Heroes now have a quantifiable ‘affinity’ towards each other which goes up and down as they perform various actions over the course of many battles. See, in addition to managing your party’s stress levels, you also have to make them get along with each other. ![]() There is a greater emphasis on collaboration between party members, which plays a role in both combat and progression. The battle system, while largely identical, has seen minor tweaks to make it snappier and clearer (although corpses are still a thing for some reason). The visuals have seen quite a facelift, too, swapping out the original’s chibi paper cutout character sprites for fully animated 3D models. Your stagecoach follows the road automatically, only requiring you to steer at specific junctions similar to the branching map in something like Slay the Spire. There is no town to go back to this time, however, instead you trundle along randomly generated pathways, stopping from inn to inn. You’re still levelling up characters, exploring the world, and trying your best to keep a lid on the progressively detrimental effects of stress, mental, and physical illness. ![]()
